This is a beautiful painting that shows a great quantity of water coming down from the mountains in early spring. The water produced by the melted snow and ice has produced a raging waterfall that probably will inundate the plains, where the bare trees are still seemingly dead. Since the trees are of good size, they must have experienced this many times. As a result, the painting gives us a view of the end of the "dead" season of the year and the beginning of spring, when the trees will have leaves and, perhaps, fruit again. To me this is a painting of the transition between the seasons of winter and spring, assuring us that spring will come again.
